Overview
Tactik is an app with a quoting engine, a billing system and an AI intelligence framework. It gives users one portal that helps businesses grow and closes the gap between their tools. This is only a glimpse of the design I created, which sets the foundation for what the system is.
Scope of the problem
Their clients’ businesses rely too much on disconnected tools, have no single source of data to refer to, take too long to implement, and are stuck with manual data entry in spreadsheets.
Goals
- Unify the 3 main core modules (CPQ, Billing and AI) in one system.
- Improve the design and experience throughout the system.
- Achieve less friction when using the system.
Process
Research
Heuristic review and analysis of the existing system, competitive analysis of competitor products, identifying objectives and data with stakeholders and the engineering team, and creating a moodboard for this kind of system.
Define
Identified the key pain points, reduced clicks for an easier user journey, and found the right way to create the existing and new modules.
Ideate
With the existing system documented in Figma and supported by a live website, I consolidated and reorganized the stakeholders’ input. From this foundation, I developed a structured design system and produced high-fidelity prototypes, which were presented to the stakeholders for review and alignment.
Design
Provided the redesigned UI modules, created new modules based on stakeholder needs, and enhanced the user experience.
Validate
Identified pain points after review and feedback to fix the flow, and revised the design.
Solution
Main UI
Disclaimer: Because of the enormous scope of this system, this UI is confidential and for internal use only. Some features are still in beta or early access and have not been officially released. Behavior may change or be incomplete.
Impact
Lessons
Creating a complex system takes time and careful analysis of competitor data, and it can leave some of the information fragmented. Next time I’ll suggest to stakeholders that we build the modules one at a time to improve the system.
